Extra-Ordinary Readers: Making Learning Fun and Joyful
Reading is one of the most valuable skills a child can develop. It opens doors to knowledge, builds imagination, and fosters critical thinking. But beyond its practical benefits, reading has the power to transport children to magical worlds, introduce them to unforgettable characters, and spark a lifelong love for learning. At Extra-Ordinary Birthdays, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of reading. That’s why we’re committed to making books accessible to children of all ages, and we need your help.
Through our Extra-Ordinary Readers program, we have the pleasure of selecting 3 brand new, age appropriate for every child receiving an EOB birthday party. Our goal is to find books that match the theme of the child’s party and their identified interest.
From toddlers flipping through board books to teenagers exploring the lives of others through young adult novels, reading plays a pivotal role in every stage of childhood development including:
- Emotional Growth: Stories allow children to experience different emotions and perspectives, building empathy and emotional intelligence.
- Creativity and Imagination: Books stimulate a child’s imagination, encouraging them to dream big and think outside the box.
Making Reading Fun
Despite its many benefits, some still view reading as boring, rather than a joy. That’s where we come in! By introducing children to books that match their interests and age level, we can show them that reading is an exciting adventure. Whether it’s a hilarious board book filled with colorful pictures, an engaging graphic novel, or an epic fantasy series, the right book can transform a reluctant reader into a book lover.
We try to make reading fun by choosing books that are fun! We select books that are sure to excite them. Whether it’s about dinosaurs, mermaids, superheroes, or space exploration, their interests should guide the selection. Books on history, self-help, growing beyond life’s struggle are excellent for learning and development. But, for the birthday, our goal is to stick to the interests and fun theme that the parents and children have highlighted.
How You Can Help
We’re on a mission to put smiles on children’s faces by providing them with books they’ll find fun and joyous. To achieve this, we’re collecting books for children of all ages, from toddlers to teens (ages 1-18). Your contributions will help us:
- Inspire children to discover the magic of reading
- Build a library of diverse and engaging books
- Reach underserved communities where access to books is limited
If you have new books that you’d like to donate, we would be thrilled to accept them. Please note that we are not accepting any used books. Our goal is to instill a sense of pride in our birthday boys and girls by giving something new, something that they can write their names in and put their stamp on.
