Inspiring Children Through the Hearts of Volunteers
10 Jun 2021
When we think about the children we celebrate each month, we can’t help but think about the day-to-day challenges they face as a result of homelessness. Just imagine. That is why Extra-Ordinary Birthdays celebrations are so special. Children are able to temporarily forget about their current situation and bask in a glorious occasion that celebrates them, reinforces their worth, and radiates hope, happiness, and love. Beyond the celebration, we create genuine connections with the children by encouraging their individual interests. Combine that with volunteers that share those same interests and we create value that is unmatched in influence.
An Extra-Ordinary Re-Opening
29 Apr 2021
Resilience: the ability to withstand adversity and bounce back from life events! EOB is proud to be resilient. The last few years have been trying from a fire that tried to burn away hope to a pandemic that changed our operations as we knew it. But with the support of our community, we never missed a beat. We continued to provide birthday celebrations to children experiencing homelessness and give hope to families.
A Little Extra Help: The Extra-Ordinary Readers Educational Workbooks Initiative
11 Mar 2021
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, all of us have had to adjust in various ways to the “new normal.” School-age children, for instance, have had to adjust to virtual learning. This has been challenging for many children, even under the best of circumstances – that is, reliable internet access, a laptop or tablet, and a quiet, comfortable space to learn within the home.

Party for a Queen
24 Dec 2019
Recently, we had a royal celebration that was quite, well, extraordinary. This party's theme was not an option on the party questionnaire, but we encourage families to write in what they want if it's not already listed. Read in her own words how one of our party planners started with EOB and later conceptualized and pulled off this party fit for a queen.
